The Big Wild Goose Pagoda 大雁塔
The big and small wild goose pagodas are China’s most famous pagodas. The big wild goose pagoda was build to hold the manuscript that the famous Buddhist monk xuanzang took back from his journey from India. The tomb of xuanzang can also be visited, however the preservation, maintenance and current function of the tomb are a bit disappointing. The area around the pagoda is nice to stroll around, lots of Chinese people relax and enjoy the environment. You will find statues that portray Chinese customs around the pagoda and in the park. The fountain at the north side of the pagoda is a must see when you visit the pagoda. It is the world’s second largest musical fountain and has a daily show. You can check the timetable at the website.
