Bell tower is one of Xi’an’s famous sights. It was build in 1384 and used to tell the time by striking the bell which sounds far and wide as you can experience when in the neighborhood as it tops the noises of the busy city life. The tower consists of wood and is structured without a nail. Inside you can enjoy a small Chinese orchestra that plays typical Chinese music, using ancient Chinese instruments like the shang and the bianzhong. It is also very handy as a landmark, the bell tower is considered as the centre of the Xi’an city centre, the four main streets originate here.
