شركات يندفعون أن يحصل سهم من العمل. Not a day passes without some company making an announcement of an investment in their future which involves China.
Their reason for this scramble is the expectation of gaining vast increases in shareholder value. Reported performance would suggest that these expectations are difficult to realise.

Every now and again the real truth comes out. Once while I was in grad school (at the now infamous NIU) writing my thesis on Thai/Chinese Corporate Culture my thesis advisor broke her academic façade and turned to me and said, “It’s all just B.S. isn’t it? I mean, it’s all just bribery, no matter what we call it, right?” She then went back into her academic mode and continued talking about “gift giving” and we never talked about “bribery” again.

Much thought and effort goes into the selection of vendors, but how much effort do you put into selecting an audit provider? Many potential clients begin their conversations with “We have tried third party auditors in the past…”

According to the Financial Times, we all chose the wrong career when we decided to be makers, doers and helpers. The big money is in moving money around, and the best salary deals in China are being given to deal makers right now.
Local Chinese and international financial services companies have benefited from the recent opening of the market. The foreign companies have arrived at a good time, with huge volumes of cash sloshing around in unrewarding bank accounts, or lying under mattresses. It’s the perfect meeting of supply and demand.
