Antes que eu fui a China e a HK a primeira vez, uma recomendação comum para “uma desculpa aceitável” foi: allergy! Não somente para não ter que juntar na coisa bebendo, ele aplica-se também para aqueles que não são certos sobre querer comer determinados alimentos.
Quando o conselho puder ser útil, você pode reconsider se você quer o usar. É provavelmente verdadeiro que este evitará seu anfitrião para perder a cara, mas… para seu anfitrião, tendo o como um visitante pode ser uma desculpa para fazer exame de você e algum de sua equipe de funcionários para fora para o jantar, bebidas e para ter algum divertimento e um riso bom. Seu anfitrião pode querer mostrar fora com você ao outro na tabela, mas mantem-se na mente: este é primeiramente aumentar seu próprio status. Eu estive pedido muitas vezes se os cartões do crédito e do débito pudessem ser usados em China. A resposta simples está SIM, em a maioria de cidades. Hongkong não deve ser nenhum problema, Shanghai e Beijing também não deve pose problemas demais. Nanning, Guangzhou e as cidades similares também devem ser APROVADOS.
Tips…although your card will be chip and pin you will in nearly all cases be asked to “sign for” do not let it out of your sight.
They can be used in the majority of the larger hotels, but not all cards will be accepted, in my experience VISA appears to be the most readily recognised and accepted. Before you leave for China, notify your bank (for Debit card) and the credit card company that you will be in China on the given dates, they will then flag up your account and you should not have to many issues. You may also still find after your first attempt at using either they will still be declined with the message “refer to provider”. Do not panic just phone your Bank or card company at your earliest. In the 6 months I have been in Shanghai I have seen and heard many interesting things. This time a short story about buying power.
This week I was talking to a young guy who’s girlfriend is doing a study in the UK. When I asked if he would visit her in the UK he answered negative. He has possibilities to do, but refuse to because he is supposed to use this time for himself to increase his buying power…. When his girlfriend comes back he will get engaged with her and what is a future husband without enough buying power…. I have seen it before where a young guy quit his job because his girlfriend and family thought the job was not good enough for him to built up a successful career and thus to support his future wife financially.
