Looking for a Service Provider

July 17th, 2008  by China Business Success Stories

Hi Everyone,

My associate will be exhibiting at a side show at the Toy Fair in Hong Kong in early December, and she is trying to locate a company to supply her with equipment and support services for the show. She will provide the props and graphics for the display. She wants to rent exhibit walls, some av equipment and lighting, and she needs the svc provider to install and remove the exhibit on her time schedule.

The landlord of the exhibition center will determine the exact date of the show based on available office space in Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsiu on Kowloon. Her exhibition will not be at the convention center but in a nearby complex.

Here are the specific items/services she needs:

1. Exhibit walls which can hold shelves and or hooks but “not peg board” which seems to be the standard. It should be Masonite which can have holes drilled into it. In fact, this is the most crucial requirement. My associate is not unhappy with her current installer in HK but he cannot get anything better than slatwall. If anyone knows a provider that can find a better solution for the walls and the current installer can do the rest, that would be ideal. We don’t like to see
people lose their clients if it is possible to avoid it…

2. Lights which go on each panel; panels have a wire management system so that wires aren’t hanging everywhere.

3. Flat screen TV and DVD player rental, plus other AV equipment such as subwoofers or rear projection systems, etc.

4. Quality carpet with a range of colors to choose from, including installation and removal.

5. Conference room furniture and a reception desk and chairs for clients in same area.

6. They need to bring electricity to the room so a qualified electrician needs to be on staff to wire the exhibit.

7. They need a storage area in the booth for extra product and supplies.

8. Point person to be on call before, during, and after the show to check things and trouble shoot if necessary. The point person should speak English.

9. My associate will supply a ground plan for construction, installation and bidding purposes.

If anyone can recommend a service provider, please email me:

Thanks! -Hank

    Hi Hank,

Quick thought. Have you been in touch with the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC) who I think are organising this event. If they cannot help directly themseves, they certainly will be able to point you in the right direction as they have a huge number of contacts and are one of the largest exhibition event organisers in Asia.

    Good luck

    Daniel
