    Having worked in Beijing for nearly a year, I definitely agree that relationship is very important. This will make sure you have a hormonous work culture which a lot of Chinese value most. But this can be a double-edged sword. If you are hiring employees who are couples or relatives, it could be dangerous as this will breed corruption if the monitoring system is not properly functioning. Favoritism will occur leaving those with no relatives working in the same place feeling left out. Infair performance appraisal will happen.

    Of course this also means if employees are thinking of leaving the company, they will bring the whole bunch with them. Sometimes, they will even bring all the confidential data to set up a similar business as yours. So be cautious and think twice before doing this.
