Most “do’s and dont’s” advisory books will tell you, that you need to bring double-sided business cards (lots of them!) when traveling to China for business. معظم "هل وdont's "الاستشاريه الكتب سوف أقول لكم ، ولكم ان الحاجة الى جعل مزدوجة من جانب وبطاقات عمل (القرعه منهم!) عند سفره الى الصين للاعمال التجارية. That is only too true! ان هو الا صحيحة تماما! But be careful with what is printed on the Chinese side! ولكن كن حذرا مع ما هو مطبوع على الجانب الصيني!

The Chinese side of your card will, to a pretty important extent, determine how serious you will be taken by your Chinese hosts. ان الجانب الصينى سوف بطاقتك ، جميلة على مدى الاهميه ، وتحديد مدى الخطوره التي كنت ستتخذها الصينية تستضيف الخاص بك.

As a well-prepared traveler you already know the ritual, don’t you? كما معدة جيدا مسافر كنت تعرف الطقوس ، لا أنت؟ Of course you won’t carelessly toss a bunch of cards to the guys on the other side of the table. بالطبع لن تكونوا بلا مبالاه إرم أ مجموعة من البطاقات الى الرجال على الجانب الآخر من الطاوله. You will, while standing up and with a light bow, hand over your card with both hands. انكم ، في حين والوقوف مع ضوء القوس ، وتسليم بطاقتك بكلتا يديه. You will make sure and double check again, that your card shows the Chinese side and not upside down, but in such a way that your guest will be able to read it. انكم تأكد وتأكد مرة اخرى ، ان بطاقتك يظهر الجانب الصيني وليس رأسا على عقب ، ولكن في هذه الطريقة بأن ما تتمتعون به ضيف سيتمكن من قراءتها.

You will hopefully learn to master the magician’s trick to present your own card with both hands and accept your host’s card with those same both hands at the same time (!). لكم نأمل ان تتعلم إتقان الساحر الذي خدعة لهذا بنفسك بطاقه بكلتا يديه الخاص بك وتقبل المضيفه بطاقه مع نفس تلك كلتا اليدين في الوقت نفسه (!). And then you will politely stare at that piece of paper for a little while, trying to figure out which part shows his name and which part shows his title. وستتمكن بأدب التحديق في ذلك قطعة من الورق لبعض الوقت ، تحاول الرقم الى الجزء الذي يظهر اسمه والجزء الذي يظهر لقبه. You will realize that he could just as well have given you a used cinema ticket… All in all, this does not sound too complicated, does it? أنك ستدرك انه مثلما يمكن ان يكون جيدا بالنظر اليك تستخدم تذكرة السينما… ومجمل القول ، وهذا لا يبدو بالغة التعقيد ، وانه لا؟

So, this is the part that you can learn yourself. بذلك ، وهذا هو الجزء الذي يمكنك أن تعرف نفسك. But let’s take a step back from that point: how will you actually organize to get your double-sided Chinese business cards? ولكن يجب أن نتخذ خطوة الى الوراء من تلك النقطه : كيف يمكنك فعلا الى تنظيم احصل على ضعف من جانب وبطاقات الأعمال الصينيين؟

I mean, how will you actually find a decent Chinese name for yourself? أعني ، كيف لك ان فعلا ايجاد اسم لائق الصينية نفسك؟ How does the job title that you worked so hard for all your life, adequately translate into Chinese characters? كيف الوظيفة انك عملت بجد لجميع حياتك ، على نحو كاف تترجم احرف صينيه؟ And is this important at all? وهذا هو المهم على الاطلاق؟ Well, you bet it is! حسنا ، يمكنك الرهان يكون!

Do you want a Chinese name to sound as closely as possible like your western name? هل تريد الصينية الاسم الى الصوت بأكبر قدر ممكن من مثل الاسم الخاص بك الغربية؟ It definitely may have the practical advantage that your host will address you in a way, in which you will recognize that he means you. من المؤكد انه قد تكون له ميزة ان العملية الخاصة بك المضيفه سوف اخاطبكم في طريقه ، والذي سوف نسلم لكم انه يعني لكم. But there are some loopholes. ولكن هناك بعض الثغرات. First of all, the pronunciation will be quite different in Mandarin as opposed to Cantonese. اولا وقبل كل شيء ، نطق سوف تكون مختلفة تماما في الافندي مقابل الكانتونيه. So, what part of China are you going to? الأمر كذلك ، فما هي جزء من الصين الى أنت ذاهب؟ And secondly, no matter how normal and respectable your name may be in your own language, a purely phonetic translation may cause a hilarious effect to your hosts. وثانيا ، مهما كانت عادية ومحترمه اسمك قد يكون في غتك ، بحتة الصوتيه الترجمة قد تتسبب في حدوث فرحان اثر لمكان الاقامة.

Let’s for example assume that you are a member of the influential German family Thyssen, and the Chinese print shop converts this into the characters that mean “tú zì”. دعنا نفترض على سبيل المثال ان كنت عضوا من ذوي النفوذ شركة تايسن الاسرة الالمانيه ، والصينية المطبعه المتحولون الى حرف هذا يعني ان "tú zì". At best your will politely suppress a giggle about your family name “rabbit”, but they may as well have a hard time not to laugh about the other meaning of a “tú zì”, which is a not-very-friendly nickname for gay people. في احسن الاحوال الخاصة بك سوف بأدب وقمع أ الضحكه عن عائلتك اسم "ارنب" ، لكنها كذلك قد يكون من الصعب ان لم تضحك مرة اخرى عن معنى "tú zì" ، والتي هي ليست صديقة جدا - الاسم المستعار لمثلي الجنس الشعب. So, some diligence in this process is not a bad idea. حتى ان بعض الاجتهاد في هذه العملية ليست فكرة سيئة.

OK, maybe your Chinese name shouldn’t really sound like your real last name, but maybe it should just express the meaning of your last name. حسنا ، ربما الاسم الخاص بك الصينية لا ينبغي حقا الصوت الحقيقي الخاص بك مثل اسم العائلة ، ولكن ربما ينبغي ان مجرد التعبير عن معنى اسم العائلة الخاص بك. But again, you’d better give it a thought, and your first name may give you a choice between various phonetic equivalents. ولكن مرة اخرى ، كنت افضل اعطائها الفكر ، والاسم الأول الخاص بك قد تعطيك خيار بين مختلف الصوتيه المعادلات. One may express your wisdom, one may emphasize your ambition, or your power, or your kindness, but some may be a lot less flattering than that. يمكن للمرء ان اعرب عن حكمتك ، وأحد يمكن ان يؤكد الطموح الخاص بك ، او سعكم ، او اللطف الخاص بك ، ولكن بعضها قد يكون الاغراء هو اقل بكثير من ذلك. The single one most important thing is your title. وحيد واحد اهم شيء هو لقبك. Way more important than your first name. بطريقة اكثر اهمية من الاسم الأول الخاص بك. It’s so important that you always have to use your host’s title when addressing him in a conversation. ومن المهم جدا ان لكم دائما الى استخدام مساعيكم المضيف لقبه عندما تصدى له في محادثة. If Mr. Wang Lao-Hu is the manager, then you will say Wang Jing-Li (literally: Wang manager) to him in your meeting, not just Mr. Wang and definitely not call him Lao-Hu in public. اذا كان السيد وانغ لاو هيو - هو مدير ، فانك سوف أقول - وانغ جينغ لي (حرفيا : وانغ مدير) له في لقاءكم هذا ، وليس فقط السيد وانغ ، وبالتأكيد ليست الدعوة اليه لاو هيو - في الجمهور.

When it comes to translating your title, please forget about anything phonetic. عندما يتعلق الأمر الى ترجمة لقبك ، انسوا عن اي شيء الصوتيه. Here it is the status and the level on the hierarchy ladder that matters. ومن هنا مركز وعلى مستوى التسلسل الهرمي سلم ان الامور. Are you self-employed without any staff? هل أنت لحسابهم الخاص من دون اي موظفين؟ Then you may still have to be “chairman and president”. ثم انك قد لا تزال بحاجة الى "الرئيس والرئيس". And should you be a senior manager, or an assistant director? وينبغي ان تكون أنت أحد كبار المديرين ، او مساعد المدير؟ One warning: never ever lie on your title. انذار واحد : ابدا الاستلقاء على لقبك. Sooner or later it will be found out and you will lose face forever. عاجلا أم آجلا سيكون اكتشفت وستفقد وجه الى الأبد. But some titles do not translate one-on-one and if there are different equivalents for your title in the sense of a glass which is half empty or half full, you may just as well choose for the option that sounds better. ولكن بعض العناوين لا تترجم خطوة تلو الاخرى ، واذا كانت هناك معادلات مختلفة لقبك في الاحساس زجاج الذي هو نصف فارغ او نصف كامل ، تماما مثلما يمكنك ان تختار جيدا لهذا يبدو الخيار الافضل.

So, it is very important that the person, who does the translation and writes the characters for you, discusses this with you and knows what he or she is doing. ولذا فمن المهم جدا ان الشخص الذي لا الترجمة ، والحروف التي تكتب عنك ، ويناقش هذا معكم ويعلم ما له أو لها به. Therefore, you may want to reconsider it once more, before you ask the lady of the Chinese takeaway at the corner to help you get your new Chinese identity. لذلك ، قد ترغب في اعادة النظر فيه مرة اخرى ، قبل ان تسأل سيدة الصينى takeaway عند ناصيه لمساعدتك في الحصول على الهوية الجديدة الخاصة بك الصينية. And the Asian guy at the print shop may not necessarily be the person to pick the Chinese equivalent if you are a “deputy director for corporate governance”. والاسيويه غي في المطبعه قد لا يكون بالضروره الى الشخص اختيار الصينى يعادل اذا انت "نائب مدير لادارة الشركات".

For determining my own Chinese name and title, I am quite lucky: I can rely on my teacher where I started my Chinese lessons a few months ago. لتحديد اسم بلدي الصينية واللقب ، وانا محظوظ جدا : استطيع الاعتماد على بلدي المعلم حيث بدأت عملي الصينية الدروس قبل بضعة اشهر. Apart from teaching language and calligraphy, she advises on things like this as a side-job. وبصرف النظر عن تدريس اللغة والخط ، وقالت انها تنصح على أشياء مثل هذه باعتبارها الجانب اثناء العمل. She will tell me the choices, give me advice, and after I have chosen, she will put the Chinese characters to my name, title, the company name and address. وقالت انها سوف قولوا الاختيارات ، اعطوني المشوره ، وبعد وقد اخترت ، وقالت انها ستضع احرف صينيه لإسمي ، في العنوان ، واسم وعنوان الشركة. And the cost will be reasonable, which is also a good thing, because having a Chinese name doesn’t make me less Dutch! وستكون تكلفة معقولة ، وهو ايضا امر جيد ، لان وجود الصينية الاسم لا تجعلني اقل الهولنديه!

So, what I will get from her by e-mail is the well-considered Chinese name and title, written in Chinese characters in electronic format, and that’s it. فما انا ما سيحصل عليه من بلدها عن طريق البريد الالكتروني هو المدروس جيدا في الصينية اسم وعنوان ، مكتوبة في احرف صينيه في شكل الكتروني ، وهذا هو. Only then it will be the time to go to the print shop, and I will be able to tell them exactly what to print onto my cards. وعندئذ فقط سيكون من الوقت للذهاب الى المطبعه ، وسوف اكون قادرا على ان يقول لهم بالضبط ما لطباعة البطاقات على بلدي. This will be non-negotiable. وسيكون هذا غير قابل للتفاوض.

You have no idea how comfortable it feels. ليس لديك فكرة كيف انه يشعر بالراحه. Yes, I am already looking forward to my new “glass half full” name and title… نعم ، انني بالفعل أتطلع الى بلدي جديد "الزجاج نصف كامل" الاسم والعنوان…
