From June 10th until July 11th, Galerie Buddenbrooks in the Hague presents the exhibition - From Chengdu to Beijing - showing works of four promising Soemo Fine Arts artists. Liu Shi (1971) and Chen Zhou (1975) are currently working and living in Chengdu, Zhang Lun (1959) and Ma Ye (1964) in Beijing. Soemo Fine Arts, a Beijing gallery, was established by Dutchman Jareth Soemodihardjo and is operated in co-operation with individuals based both in China and the West. They present the works of a selected group of both emerging contemporary Chinese artists as well as talent not yet discovered by the world. Through facing these contradictions contemporary Chinese artists’ work show a never-ending search for identity yet to be formed.
