Email marketing your China Business?
“Sure we will make a huge success of our China Business adventure; we are (email/internet) marketing experts after all, just watch!” When we started this China Business Web site some five months ago, we – obviously – thought we were going to take the China oriented Business world by storm. Simply by making sure that: if you are serious about your China Business you might want to subscribe to our newsletter. So next month is an excellent time to see where we stand.
Are we where we’d like to be? Nope, not yet. See, we like aiming high, so as long as we do not have 10.000 visitors per day, we won’t rest. As soon as we hit that mark, we won’t either actually. Point is: we are making progress.
• With a couple of thousands entrepreneurs focusing on China visiting each month
• A network of over 1000 (!) China Experts (read previous post to find out more).
• And email newsletters being sent weekly, actually getting delivered, which seems to be getting harder for everyone these days.
Thank God it is Friday?
But sometimes, you discover that despite all your effort, you yourself are the one to blame for failure. Like we found out last Friday. We transformed a week’s work into the new newsletter, hit send (around lunch-time to make sure you were still in the office, instead of having a drink in TGI Friday’s). Only to find out we were being plagued by a ‘feature’ of our software preventing you from getting the same newsletter twice…
What happened?
Last week’s newsletter was made using the template of the one the week before. And that particular one was made using the one from the week before that. So far, so good? It wasn’t. Because our tool registers the unique ID of a newsletter, so last week there is a chance you didn’t get our newsletter, if you received the one from the week before that. And this week you didn’t get it, until we discovered what went wrong, and set ourselves right.
So in some cases new subscribers got our newsletters twice last Friday (after resending it completely to everybody), and in some cases you might have missed the one the week before. Whatever’s the case: please know that you can always read issues online on our site. PS Email marketing tip: after installing Outlook 2007 on one of our desktops, we discovered you’d have to technically tweak you newsletter a little bit to make sure it looks the way it should for Outlook 2007 recipients. If you publish a China related e-zine and want us to check it in Outlook 2007 for you, let us know (e-mail info@chinasuccessstories.com and tell us where to subscribe). We’ll be happy to beta test it for you.
